What is techquity?

Simply put, technology + equity = techquity!

Techquity is the magic that happens when educators use technology intentionally to create more equitable opportunities for all students.

Too often, schools are using technology, just for the sake of using technology. They try new devices and apps, hoping something leads to growth in student achievement. However, digitizing old methods and mindsets rarely makes a significant difference.

Techquity doesn’t even start with technology. Instead, we start by looking at our students, and identifying what specific barriers are keeping them from being as successful as possible. Then we can look for tech solutions to help address those needs. Also, plot twist—the best intervention might not even be techy! Equity is the goal. Technology is just a section of the toolbox.
